​Treasurer’s Report and Approval of October Minutes


Election of Three At-Large-Trustees and Appointment of St. Anne’s Hill Historic District Trustee  Please see the below biographies for the following candidates. Elected trustees will serve two year terms from January 2023-January 2025. Additional nominations will also be accepted at the annual meeting.
 
Rachel Bankowitz--Rachel has over 20 years of experience in historic preservation and cultural resource management, including the survey of historic resources in Ohio, Wisconsin, Michigan and Indiana. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Travel & Tourism and master’s degree in Historic Preservation. Rachel has authored over 150 history/architecture reports to meet preservation legal mandates, surveys of 25 buildings for Dayton’s Register of Historic Places, and 1,200 buildings for the Detroit-to-Canada bridge construction. She also established the Dayton Historic Landmark Plaque and City Beautiful programs. Appointed by Governor Kasich, Rachel has served since  2018 on the Ohio Historic Site Preservation Advisory Board. She currently works as a contractor for the Air Force Research Laboratory.
 
Evan Lavoie--Evan has served as a Trustee and volunteer since PDI’s reorganization in 2019. Evan’s leadership and countless hours of volunteer work were instrumental in PDI obtaining a $5,000 grant from the City to develop PDI’s popular web-based walking tours which attract visitors and new residents to our City’s historic neighborhoods and business districts. Originally from Massachusetts, Evan is an RN at Children’s Hospital. Evan also obtained mini-grant funding and volunteered to improve green spaces in his Walnut Hills neighborhood. He recently moved and is renovating his historic home in the Dayton View Historic District.
 
Leah Konicki—Leah has an extensive background in preservation, city planning and economic development holding degrees in design/architectural history and human resources development. She has worked for the cities of Cincinnati, Ohio and Covington, Kentucky and private sector firms in a variety of preservation and architectural history roles. She returned to Dayton in the summer of 2023 and lives in Walnut Hills. Leah has conducted extensive research of Ohio cities to help develop PDI’s proposed vacant property ordinance. She currently works as a Dayton Foundation Del Mar Encore Fellow for Miami Valley Housing Opportunities to develop new ways to serve vulnerable  population in our community.
 
Steve Makovec--A retired management professional, Steve has led diverse functions and teams in the marketing communications, IT and healthcare sectors. As a long-time, dedicated community volunteer, Steve currently serves on the board of the Salem Avenue Business Association, the Jane Reece Neighborhood Association, and the Bach Society. Steve has also led the initiative to nominate the Jane Reece neighborhood to the National Register of Historic Places.
 
Kegan Sickels--Kegan has served as a PDI Trustee and Digital Media Director since 2020. He inspires the preservation community with educational and advocacy updates and has promoted the value of preservation to reach 200,000 social media accounts; 5,700 engaged Facebook/Instagram followers; and 16,000 unique web visitors in 2022. His interactive map of Dayton’s historic neighborhoods and landmarks is a valuable web resource for the entire region. He has revamped PDI’s membership and donation web functions and created PDI’s first-ever, online merchandise store to increase PDI’s annual revenue and profits. Kegan lives in the Dayton View Triangle (DVT) with his wife, Elizabeth, and three children. As past president, he led efforts to energize the DVT neighborhood association and successfully list the area on the National Register of Historic Places. He holds bachelor’s degrees in Finance and Accounting and a master’s degree in Accountancy from Wright State University. He works as a Senior Financial Analyst, Revenue Cycle Operations at CareSource.
